The mother's attorney raised an objection to the man's "psychopath" claims.
A man made a desperate attempt to get custody of his 8-year-old daughter by claiming that his ex-wife was a psychopath and couldn't take care of the child, according to a report in Al Bayan newspaper. His appeal, however, was turned down by a Sharjah court.
The man said the mother of his daughter had psychiatric disorders and she was not fit to look after the girl. He added that his ex-wife, who is a doctor by profession, spends most of her time at her work, and that she treats his daughter in a shabby way, while preventing him from seeing her.
Earlier, the Sharia Court of Sharjah had ruled divorce between the couple and given the woman the custody of her daughter after the husband left the country. The court had ordered the man to pay alimony to the mother as well as support the child by bearing her education costs.
The husband appealed the court decision, saying that the woman didn't obey him, and refused to travel with him to another country. He added that his monthly income - which is around Dh1,800 - is not enough to abide by what the court wants him to pay.
The mother's attorney raised an objection to the man's "psychopath" claims, adding that if the woman had any health or mental problems, she wouldn't have been able to keep her job as a doctor. He said that he had filed evidences that showed that the husband assaulted the woman.
After thorough scrutiny, the court rejected the man's appeal, and asked him to pay the alimony and bear the education costs.
