He denied all the charges against him.
A man in Abu Dhabi is on trial for seven different charges.
The Gulf national has been charged with stealing a vehicle, changing its license plate, deliberately setting the car on fire, possession of drugs, driving under the influence of drugs, being intoxicated, and assaulting a government employee on duty.
The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal heard the man's case regarding the charges against him, Emarat Al Youm reported.
In the court, the accused denied all charges against him, pointing out that he was the one assaulted by the government employee. The Court of First Instance had sentenced him to 3 years in prison.
The accused's lawyer argued that the witness' testimony is contradictory since he reportedly admitted in the police record that he was not injured during the assault. The victim had submitted a medical report 24 days after the incident, the prosecutions' investigation revealed.
The defence of the accused stated that the medical report submitted by the victim was issued on the date prior to the incident. The witness also stated in his testimony that the defendant looked like he was under the influence of drugs, however, a drug test proved that his body was free of any narcotics.
The defence called to abolish the ruling of the Court of First Instance and asked the court to find him innocent of the crimes.ERROR: Macro /ads/dfp-ad-article-new is missing!
